Terms of use
These Terms of Use explain the rules for using Riffy. By using Riffy, creating an account, or purchasing Riffy Pro, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Who we are
Riffy is a software product and private project operated by Bogdan Malizhev, FOP. In these terms, “Riffy”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to that operator acting through the Riffy product.
Riffy is a music practice player for musicians. Depending on the platform and version, it may include playback controls, loops, tempo and pitch tools, local library features, and desktop-only Pro features such as stem separation.
2. What Riffy includes
Riffy currently includes:
- a free core experience for music playback and practice,
- a web app for supported browsers,
- desktop apps for supported platforms,
- and a paid Riffy Pro tier with additional desktop-only features.
Some features are available only on certain devices, operating systems, or app versions. For example, Pro features are intended for the desktop app and may not be available in the browser version.
Riffy is built as a practice-first tool for musicians. It is not advertised or licensed as a full digital audio workstation.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You may use Riffy only in compliance with applicable law.
You do not need an account for basic free usage. However, an account is required to purchase, activate, or manage Riffy Pro.
If you create an account, you agree to:
- provide accurate and current information,
- keep your login credentials secure,
- and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
If you are not legally able to enter into these terms on your own, you may use Riffy only with the involvement or permission of a parent, guardian, or other authorized adult.
4. Free and Pro access
Riffy Free gives you access to the core features we make available at no charge.
Riffy Pro is a paid upgrade that unlocks additional features. Unless we clearly state otherwise at checkout, Riffy Pro is sold as a one-time purchase, not a recurring subscription.
Your purchase gives you access to the Pro tier subject to these terms, supported platforms, technical requirements, and the continued availability of the product.
5. Purchases, Paddle, and activation
When you purchase Riffy Pro, you are purchasing access to a product operated by Bogdan Malizhev, FOP. Paddle acts as the payment provider and merchant of record for the checkout transaction. This means Paddle may handle checkout, billing, tax calculation, payment collection, invoicing, and related purchase administration.
By placing an order, you agree that:
- pricing, currency, and applicable taxes may be shown at checkout,
- your purchase may be subject to Paddle’s checkout terms, buyer terms, and privacy practices,
- an account may be required to activate and use Pro features,
- and access to Pro may be delayed, limited, or canceled if payment is unsuccessful, reversed, or flagged as fraudulent.
We may update our pricing, product packaging, or promotional offers at any time. Changes will not normally affect a purchase that has already been completed.
6. Refunds
We aim to keep our refund policy straightforward and fair. Please see our Refund policy for the current refund rules and request process.
Nothing in these terms limits any non-waivable refund or cancellation rights you may have under applicable law.
7. Your audio files and content
Riffy is designed to work with audio and related data that you choose to use with the app. You keep your rights in your own files.
You are responsible for:
- making sure you have the right to use the audio and other material you load into Riffy,
- complying with copyright, licensing, and other applicable laws,
- keeping backup copies of any files that matter to you,
- and understanding that your local library, settings, and practice data may differ between devices.
Riffy does not claim ownership of your music files. However, we do not monitor or verify that your use of third-party audio is lawful, and we are not responsible for that decision.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Riffy for unlawful, infringing, or abusive purposes,
- interfere with or disrupt the operation, security, or integrity of the service,
- attempt to bypass licensing, payment, access, or security restrictions,
- use bots, scraping, or automated methods in a way that harms the service,
- or copy, modify, reverse engineer, or redistribute Riffy except where applicable law expressly allows it.
9. Intellectual property
Riffy, including its software, design, branding, documentation, and other content provided by us, is protected by intellectual property and other laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use Riffy in accordance with these terms. We retain all rights not expressly granted to you.
10. Availability, updates, and experimental features
We may change, improve, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may also release beta, preview, or experimental features that may be incomplete, change substantially, or be removed later.
Some advanced audio features, including experimental stem separation options, may vary in quality depending on the source material, hardware, operating system, or app version. We do not promise that any feature will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Riffy is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We do not guarantee:
- uninterrupted access,
- compatibility with every device, browser, operating system, or audio format,
- perfect separation, playback, or analysis results,
- or that the service will always meet your exact needs or expectations.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Riffy and its operators, affiliates, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from or related to your use of Riffy.
If applicable law does not allow the exclusion of certain damages, our liability will be limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to some or all of Riffy if we reasonably believe that:
- you have violated these terms,
- your use creates risk for us, other users, or third parties,
- payment for Pro has been reversed or found to be fraudulent,
- or we are required to do so for legal, security, or operational reasons.
You may stop using Riffy at any time.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or business changes.
When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page. If you continue using Riffy after the updated terms take effect, that continued use means you accept the revised terms.
15. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, unless a different law is required by applicable consumer protection rules.
If you have questions about these terms, please contact us at support@riffy.app.
